When I first saw designer Jenni Kayne’s Brentwood home—and the concept cabin her eponymous brand renovated and decorated on Lake Arrowhead last year—I had major rug envy. Sure, the sheepskins were something I could conceivably find, but the neutral broken stripe rug anchoring her living room sofa? Undoubtedly vintage. The multiple perfectly sun-bleached Beni Ourain style rugs strewn about, often layered over larger sisals? Yep, you guessed it, vintage again.

Kayne has a knack for finding neutral pieces with character and warmth and, on the whole, creating minimalist-leaning interiors that are still visually interesting despite being fairly monochromatic. Pretty much every rug I’ve ever seen her use, even in her retail outposts, is kind of the embodiment of that laid-back, California cool aesthetic, and that’s why I ‘m excited that she’s launching a rug collection with home decor retailer Lulu and Georgia today. Now it’s easy to copy Jenni Kayne’s textile style without even leaving your home to source vintage finds.

Each of the four rug designs have a decidedly vintage vibe and are meant for layering, so you can get that easygoing, lived-in look that Kayne is known for. Naturally, the palette is subdued, with hits of cream, tan, mustard, and brown. The striped Bungalow Rug, shown above, is my favorite piece. It’s the graphic rug I think I’ve always wanted, modern in its lines but certainly warmer when executed in cream and tan as opposed to the usual high contrast, black-and-white combo. Put that guy over the jute Farmhouse Rug and call it a day. The Cabin Rug is another standout. The raised diamond motif and fringe bring to mind Beni Ourains, but the tone-on-tone palette is the stuff of warm minimalist dreams.

Sizing for some of the collection starts at the standard 2′ x 3′ floor mat size, which means your door, bathroom, or kitchen sink area can get in on an underfoot upgrade, too. If you’re looking for something big to really anchor a space though, all four rugs are available with 10′ x 14′ dimensions as well. Prices start at $128, and you can shop a whole Jenni Kayne-inspired interiors collection on Lulu and Georgia, too. Select rugs are also available in Jenni Kayne stores.
